Fort Pitt Capital Group was formed in 1995 when the financial services industry was fraught with conflicts of interest. Even today, many investment management firms push products and revenue rather than honoring their fiduciary responsibility.
It was in this landscape that our founders established something different. Earning and keeping our clients’ trust is central to everything we do at Fort Pitt Capital Group. Since our founding, we’ve committed to holding ourselves to extremely high ethical standards.
In 2015, following many years of steady growth, we wanted to continue to grow the firm, but we knew we needed help to do it bigger and do it right. To build something more significant that would outlast the founders, we knew mergers and acquisitions would be essential. We decided to join Focus Financial Partners. Focus had a solid history of shepherding rational and reasonable deals, and, most importantly, they weren’t going to try to run our business. We joined Focus in the fall of 2015.
 Four years later, we consummated our first transaction – a merger with a firm from Harrisburg, PA, called Roof Advisory Group. When we met with Jeff Roof and his team, the fit in terms of culture, values, and philosophy became clear. They were well established in south-central Pennsylvania, allowing us to expand our geographic reach, and provided a deep bench of investment, planning, and marketing talent that immediately enhanced our team. |
For its 25th anniversary in 2020, Fort Pitt Capital Group had over 60 people working for our firm and over 4 billion dollars in assets managed. Our team consists of in-house financial advisors, investment analysts, client relationship specialists, and support staff. We provide ongoing portfolio management to individuals, trusts, not-for-profits, foundations, pension plans, business owners, executives, and large corporations.
Fort Pitt Capital Group was acquired by Kovitz Investment Group Partners, LLC (“Kovitz”), a registered investment adviser with the SEC on November 1, 2024. Fort Pitt Capital Group is now a division of Kovitz and its registered investment adviser.
